► Overview:
5 days from Casablanca to the south of Morocco, Visit the cities of Rabat, Meknes, Fez, spend the night in the Merzouga desert in a Saharan bivouac, experience a camel ride through the dunes, sleeping in nomad tents, the tour will end in Marrakech.
► Itinerary:
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fez
Departure from your accommodation to Fez passing through Rabat and Meknes. We will visit important places in these cities as well as Volibilus. Then we continue to Fez where we will arrive at the end of the day and here we will spend the night in a riad.
Day 2: Fez
Explore the medina with a local guide, visiting the Jewish quarter, the gate of the royal palace. Then we will visit the Quaraouiyine Mosque, the first university in the Arab world. After lunch, we will enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city. We spend the night in a local hotel in Fez.
Day 3: Fez – Azrou – Ziz vallee – Erfoud – Merzouga
Today we will go to Merzouga, we will stop in Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest. Lunch will be in Midelt in a traditional Moroccan restaurant, then we will cross the Tizi Ntalghamt pass and along the beautiful Ziz gorge, stopping for panoramic views along the way. We will cross Berber villages to Erfoud, then Rissani, and finally we will reach Merzouga. Here we will stay in a lcoal hotel near the desert dunes.
Day 4: Merzouga
Today we will explore the desert area visiting the Gnawa in the village of Khamlia. You can also meet nomadic families still living in Berber tents. Later we will return to the town of Merzouga, from where you will ride a camel to explore the dunes of Erg chebbi. Here we will spend the night in the middle of the sand dunes. You will enjoy the sunset and dinner today will be served in the desert camp with Berber music in the campfire.
Day 5: Merzouga – Todra gorges – Dades gorges
Get up early in the morning if you want to see the sunrise, then we will return to the village by camel. After breakfast and shower at the hotel, we will go to the Todra Gorges, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch in the heart of the gorges, we depart for the Dades valley. We spend the night in a traditional hotel.
Day 6: Dades gorges – Ait ben haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, we will cross the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. The route through the Dades Valley is the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, which offers many opportunities to take some of the best photos of the trip. We will stop at Kalaat Mgouna, “the pink city”. Our journey continues to Marrakech passing through the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. We will pass the Tizi n’tichka pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas mountains. At the end of the day, we will arrive at your accommodation in Marrakech.
